The Oncology Genomics SIG is a forum to promote national and international collaboration among oncology nurses (practicing across the domains of clinical practice, education, research, policy and administration) interested in the intersection of genomics and cancer care.
Our objectives are:
-
To promote genomic literacy among oncology nurses as an integral part of quality, safe, equitable and evidence-informed oncology care.
-
To serve as a platform for cross sector and interdisciplinary collaboration and consultation among genomics subject matter experts in oncology nursing practice across Canada.
-
To contribute to safe, equitable and evidence-informed patient care through the sharing, co-designing and dissemination of research and educational resources in the area of oncology genomics.
-
To promote harmonization and clarity surrounding the role of the oncology nurse in interdisciplinary genomic-informed oncology care delivery.
-
To ensure a nursing voice in developing policies related to genomics-informed oncology initiatives at the national, organizational, and practice levels.
-
To provide a platform for SIG members to develop nursing education and nursing research projects related to genomics in oncology.
-
To support leadership development for the integration of genomics-informed oncology nursing practice and the development of new care pathways.
